Reflections...

Yay! After countless weeks, i am finally able to login and post my previous reflections. Last week, Mr. Varella was not satisfied with our game as we did not really meet up to discuss about our project. I was also a bit disappointed as we could not find time to brainstorm as our SA1 was coming. Over the weeks, I did not really sense the urgency as i felt that we still had alot of time.
I really regret not trying to get our teammates to meet up together.

Reflection For Term 2 Week 6

Reflection For Term 2 Week 6

This week we presented our card game, but it was not really completed, so Mr.Varella told us to quickly complete the project as the examinations are just around the corner. He told us to laminate our board used for the card game and told us to find or print pictures of the items we wanted, instead of drawing it. We were told that we needed to meet up and to finish the project as soon as possible. We were also told to write a written report on our project and to hand it up by the next lesson.

Reflection For Term 2 Week 5

This week we presented one of our final design for our game. But Mr. Varella was not satisfied with our efforts, and told us to be more creative and add into the game more interesting and fun for the players. We were told to meet up and design our board to make it even more attractive and try to add in like a type of currency into our game.

Reflection Term 2 Week 4

Reflection Term 2 Week 4
This week when we presented our two projects to him, we then decided to do the weather game and not the air-condition experiment. He told us to try to quickly make our game and a survey, so that we can let primary school students try our game out and then do the survey. He told us to make the final product quickly and told us to meet up so that we could brainstorm together.

Reflection for week 2 term 2

during the lesson, we talked to mister varella about the condenser project but he told us about different points about the project and he said that it was dangerous to hang the clothes by the condenser as the condenser is out on a ledge and he is afraid that we might fall off while doing the project so we just sticked to the idea of the card game.

Reflection For Week 3 Term 2

Reflection For Week 3 term 2
This week we told Mr. Varella that we still going to stick with our weather game, but he told us that we could continue with he new project as well as the old project so he grouped us into two new groups, me and Marc doing the weather game while Kenko and Glenn doing the new project.
Mr. Varella suggested to Marc and me to try making any card game we wanted if we could not improve our weather game to make it more interesting. He told us to meet up and tell him our new card game.

Reflection For Week 2 Term 2

Reflection For Week 2 in term 2
This week we proposed to Mr. Varella a new project plan, he told us that we might not have time to complete but if we wanted to continue we should look for Mr. Marc for help in the building of the object. We tried to plan if we could complete it in time and whether we can get the sufficient amount of money to get the items needed for the new project. Before the proposal, we showed him our survey questions for the weather game, but told us to change our survey questions as it was meant for people who have not played the game.

Reflection for Term 2 week 1

during the lesson, one of our teammates suggested that instead of the card game, we should do something that concerns an air-conditioner. For example, we could try to hang clothes at the air conditioner  generator and dry the clothes but it was proven that it was not a good idea.

Reflection Over The holidays

This week , we did our survey on the weather game. I think the weather game was a complete failure as i was not very attracted by the game. I am trying to convince my other group members to give up on the weather game and start on a new project. The other group members are quite reluctant to give up on our current project as we have worked hard to make it.

reflection for March holidays

In the march holidays, we met up to discuss about our card game. We made lots of cards that had very attractive and funny picture for our cards. Although its attractive and funny, the pictures of our cards are related to different weathers and how it affects the things around us. We were also told to do a survey of 10 questions for our card game, to me it is like a checklist to see if our card game is interesting for other people to play.

Reflection For Week 8

Reflection For Week 8
This week we were to finish our final draft over the March term break. We showed him what we were exactly are doing for our weather card game, and he told us to make a draft copy of it and try playing the game among ourselves. He approved our idea of our game but told us to find any bad points of the game and improve it while we were playing the game. He also told use to think of a minimum of ten survey questions for our weather card game.

Reflection For Week 7

Reflection For Week 7

Today, Mr Varella saw our draft again. He told us the game was kind of dull and needed us to add something, which would make it more interesting and attractive for players to play.

He gave us even more ideas this time round, but our group has agreed on adding colour on the side of each families so that if your family match, the colour on the card too have to match.

reflection for week 6

in this lesson we showed the teacher our card game but he was not satisfied with it and told us to change the format of the game as it was not original and it could be improved . after much thinking, we have designed it to be better then the last time. there is also a survey to do that must be completed.

Reflection For Week 6
This week we showed Mr. Varella our draft for our final copy, but he was not really satisfied with what we presented. He told us to go and brainstorm again for about ten minutes and to present to him our draft again.

He approved of it and told us to work more as a group and try to meet up with each other to do more brain storming for our weather game. He gave us a survey and asked us to complete it by the next lesson.

Reflection for week 4

When we were having lesson, we presented our ideas about our weather card game to our teacher, Mr. Varella. He gave us more ideas about the game like making wild cards and he also suggested making different families and make sure they did not have any contradictions.

Week 4 and 5 Reflection

Week 4 And 5 Reflection
During this lesson, we presented our final presentation on what our weather game was actually about. Mr. Varella told us on week three to look up for some keywords for our weather game, but we only found some keywords as some contradict each other and the players may get confused.
So this week we have to complete all our research as we were told that the next lesson we had to hand up our full and complete project which is our weather game. Mr. Varella also continue to give us some wonderful ideas of how we could make our game even more fun, interesting and allowing the players to interact with the game.

Week 3 reflection

On the 3rd lesson we showed Mr Varella our work. He saw the cards that we prepared and gave

a few pieces of advice. He said that the words on the card did not have to be too long and we

should include some pictures in it. He also said to do research on some terms related to the

environment.

Our project proposal( continued):

Guiding Questions:

1.     How can we create such a game that is

appealing to people of all ages?

2.    Where can we find information about the

weather?

3.    How are we going to insert them into our

game?

4.    How do we get the pictures?

5.    Have we enough materials to teach other

people about the weather?

6.    How can they best be met?

7.    Have all the targets been met?

8.    How will ensure that all of them are met?

9.    Will they learn after playing the game?

Reflection For Week 3

This week we presented to Mr. Varella our project which is our weather game, he approved what we were doing. He also understood what we were trying to do and told us how we were able to improve on our project. He also told us to work on the project as our game cards were too wordy, told us how we could we could improve our games by suggesting that we fond keywords for our cards instead of writing a whole paragraph on a card.

reflection on 3rd lesson

On the third lesson we showed the teacher what we were doing for the project, which was a card game. The teacher said that we should research on global warming and other natural disasters and put them into our card game. After he said that, all of us felt excited about the project and we have already started researching and have learnt lots of interesting facts!

week 3 and 4 reflections.

We researched about global warming and its effects o the internet. I learned alot while doing the                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           research and had alot of fun too.  I learned that we humans are the main cause of                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              global warming and that it is a terrifying thing as it is destroying earth. I've learned the                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   ways of helping to prevent global warming and play my part to save the earth.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Kenko Tan (33)

Week 3 and 4 reflections.

We started doing our card game by doing research on the effects of global warming . So as to                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Branch out the contents of the game .

1)We are creating a weather card game.
2)We know that weather affects everybody.
3)How does the weather affect everybody? What can we do to prevent adverse weather.
4)Geography, Science and reading weather tools.
5)The internet, books and the NEA.
6)We tell them first about the project, then they learn as they play.

Our Weather Game

Our Weather Game

What The Players Would Learn After Playing The Game?

1)     They would learn about global warming, acid rain and more.

2)     They would learn what causes them and if they had contributed to the outcome of such weather.

3)     They would also learn how to prevent it

4)     They would learn ways of doing things differently and how this would help save the earth.

What Is The Game about?

1)     Each family is made of up 4 cards.

2)     The aim is to match all the cards of one family e.g. If you have the card on global warming, you have to find the other three cards which are

a.     The prevention of global warming,

b.     What is global warming and

c.     What triggers global warming.

3)     If you got all these four cards, you now have one complete family.

4)     At the end of the game, whoever has the most families is the winner of the game.

5)     The game is to help players understand about different forms of weather and how we can make do our part to save the earth.

6)     It also teaches the players what each global warming effect would do to earth and how it affects activities of all living creatures on the earth.

What are the rules of the game?

1)     Each player take turns to place a card in the centre of the table.  Whoever wants the card can take the card and the person who placed the card in the centre can draw another card.

2)     When a person has three cards already and the last card he needs is placed on the centre of the table, he/she has to shout the name of the weather family e.g. “Global Warming!”, “Acid Rain!” or whatever weather family they are forming.

3)     If two people want the card, the card goes to whoever have the most of that family gets the card first.

Weathers the game may be going to cover on:

1)     Global Warming

2)     Acid Rain

3)     Hail Storm

4)     Earthquake

5)     Cyclone

6)     Flood

7)     Wildfires

8)     Volcano Eruption

9)     Landslides

10)  Snow and Ice

11)  Avalanche and many more.

Week 2 Reflection

After our lesson, Mr Varella gave us some ideas on our group topics and we searched back and forth for a good topic that we were all confident of.

We settled on the weather game topic and so Mr Varella asked us to go home to find a way to make the game interesting. I think that the weather game is a good idea and Mr Varella has given us some very good ideas for our card game. I hope we can find a day where everyone can get together and discuss about it.

week 2 reflection

Timothy tan(35)

We had to choose a topic we wanted to do and then discuss whether the topic would be suitable for us. Our project was to check for weather conditions which would affect the activities of frogs living at East Coast Park. The project was not successful as after three trips to East Coast Park where the frogs were supposed to be, we could not find a single frog to observe.

So we decided to change the topic of our project and design a weather card game instead.  This project will help educate the players to understand and learn as they play the game on how to protect and prevent more damage to mother earth.

reflection on week 2 lesson

Marc Wee (36)

after the lesson we were supposed to go experiment on frogs to see if there were more of them when it was raining or when it was sunny. Mr. Varella explained to us that if we wanted to do the experiment, we would have to go to the exact spot where all the frogs are and observe the frogs for a few consecutive days and a few times in one day to confirm our readings.

Reflection on the first IPW lesson

Marc Wee(36)

After the first lesson, the teacher(Mr Varella) told us that our group will create a card game that has the main idea of the environment, Mr Varella also said that the gameplay of it can be like UNO or any other type of card gameplay we can think of. I was really happy to hear that and can't wait to start on it.

As the leader of the group, i will plan and arrange when we will meet and discuss what to do about the project and  see to it that we hand in every assignment before the deadline. I will prove to my group members that they did not make a wrong choice by appointing me as their leader.

Reflection On lesson 1

Timothy Tan(35)

For the first lesson, i learnt that we had to pick up different skills along the way if we wanted to score in the project.
I also understand the meaning of "GRACE" and what it is about. There can only be one leader in the group  and we chose Marc to be our leader.
We must learn to discuss and agree on who will take up what kind of task. Once we have agreed on our duties, we must complete our individual duties so we will not let each other down.

Reflection On First Lesson

Glenn Teo(34)

For the first lesson, the teacher briefly went through what G.R.A.C.E. was about again and that it would be included in our end of year results too so we told each other that we had to be serious about the project and not fool around.

Reflection On First Lesson

Kenko Tan(33)

For the first lesson we thought of the name and motto for our group. It was quite fun as we came up with lots of weird and fancy ideas and in the end, we could not think of a better team name then "Iceberg VS. Volcano". So we shall settle at this name at the moment.

GRACE

Hey! This is our group's blog for GRACE. Our team members are Kenko Tan (33), Glenn Teo(34), Timothy Tan(35), Marc Wee(36).
